Manu Year 0-2 The Birds
Nga Manu team is where your child's learning journey starts. As your child settles into our junior nest they will be supported by teachers, classmates and older buddies. Our focus is on making academic progress whilst developing our school's core values of resilience, respect and responsibility as well as building friendships. We value a strong partnership between home and school.
In the Year 0-2 Team we pride ourselves on providing our young students with a calm, caring and nurturing environment as they transition into the exciting world of school. We believe that children who feel safe, happy and settled at school learn to their full potential and thrive within the classroom. During this time, students build strong relationships and connections with their teachers and peers. This trust allows them to collaborate positively with others in play and learning. The school values of respect, responsibility and resilience are weaved throughout everything that we do, beginning each child’s journey as a Waitakere Primary School student.
In Year 0-2, we focus on building strong foundations for learning that will set students up for the rest of their schooling career. We aim to ensure that all children have the knowledge and skills to support them as they move through the school. The beliefs and understanding that ‘mistakes help us learn’ and that it is ‘OK to try new things’ underpins all learning. This risk taking encourages resilient learners who become confident in taking on new academic challenges. As children move into Year 2, classroom programs begin to encourage more choice and independence to develop these important skills as they move towards Year 3.
Teachers are here to support you in any way that we can. Please feel free to contact your child’s teacher via Seesaw if you need us
