Sports
Sports is an important part of our Waitakere culture. Students across all year levels take part in a comprehensive programme. They develop skills to participate in a wide range of individual and team sports, focusing on body movements, collaboration, problem solving and strategy.
Students also participate in school wide sports days which may include triathlons, cross country, and athletics days.
Community involvement is crucial, many of our parents and experts within the wider community help coach our school and zone teams.
In addition to a comprehensive P.E programme, we organise for our Year 7 and 8’s to represent the school in a wide range of Northwest Zone sports competitions. In the past these have included softball, swimming, orienteering, soccer, basketball, netball and cross country and athletics.

PLAYBALL
Playball is a sport and movement programme for 2-8 year olds. Playball is an introduction to eight different sports, teaching the basic fundamentals of each one in a fun and friendly environment. The main objective of Playball is not to create superstars, rather to provide children with the opportunity to develop a hose of necessary social, educational and personal skills. By giving children competence in sport, they will develop fundamental life skills. From a child's perspective the most important element of the programme is fun!
The sessions run from 3.15-4pm on Tuesday afternoons in the school hall and is no more than twelve children to 1 coach ratio.
Contact James at james@playball.co.nz for more information.
