Travelwise

We are a Gold Travelwise School - Awarded in November 2019. 

Travelwise is an ongoing programme at Waitakere aiming to decrease congestion at the school gate and therefore improve the safety for all students.

The benefits of Walking to School:

Students are given the opportunity to develop road safety skills

Reducing car trips to school

Students have fun walking and get fit while socialising with their friends  ​

What are the Travelwise initiatives at Waitakere: 

• Two daily bus routes
• Kiss, drop and drive zone located on Anzac valley road
• Active walking school bus routes
• Park and Walk from Waitakere train station
• Student leadership groups - Travelwise leaders, Bus monitors, Walking monitors and Road patrols
• Travelwise programmes are integrated into learning in all areas of the school
• Close partnership working with Auckland transport

Can you volunteer to walk once a week? We always need more adult walkers to help support the walking school bus. Please leave your name and contact details at the school office if you can help.
