The Board of Trustees is an elected body of parents who are responsible for the governance of the school. The Board has an important role in ensuring that the needs of the children and their learning are paramount. Board meetings are open to the public and are held monthly. Notification of each meeting is advertised in the school newsletter. The Board Members are elected for three years and elections are held every 18 months. Parents who may be interested in serving on the Board of Trustees are strongly urged to either come along to a Board Meeting or contact an existing Board Member or contact the school.

Kia ora e te whānau,
I have had the great privilege to be involved with Waitākere Primary School since we moved here in 2014. My eldest was then 6 years old and strode into Room 17 confident of a warm welcome, which he and later his brothers have certainly enjoyed at Waitākere Primary.
I currently have one son in Year 7 at Waitākere Primary, and his two brothers are exploring the wider world at Waitākere College. I work from home as a freelance Qualitative Researcher.
I am originally from all the way over in the East of Auckland, but my family and I feel very lucky to have been able to make our home in the green hills of West Auckland. We have a little farm with varying numbers of sheep and chickens, so our boys have learned all sorts of things they would never have discovered back in St Heliers.
I have been a parent representative on the Board of Trustees since 2020, and have stepped into the role of Presiding member in 2025.
