New Entrant Students

Families of children who are approaching their 4th birthday and would like their child to attend Waitakere Primary School should make contact with our office so that we can determine your zone status and advise you accordingly as to next steps.

Cohort Entry

Waitakere Primary is using cohort entry from Term 2 2025, this means that children can start on one of 8 set dates throughout the year.

Once your child turns 5 you can choose any of the dates below. They can’t start before they turn 5.

There are start dates at the beginning and middle of each school term.

2025 start dates:

Term 2 – 28 April or 26 May.
Term 3 – 14 July or 18 August.
Term 4 – 6 October or 10 November.
School visits will be arranged for your child once a start date has been confirmed. Parents will have an opportunity to attend an information morning 9.00am - 11.00am whilst you child is attending their first school visit.  All the information regarding visits will be emailed to you once you have chosen a start date.
